Assassination in Iran and the Death of Haniyeh

It was reported that Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Hamas Political Bureau, who came to Iran for the inauguration of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, was killed in an assassination attempt by Israel in Tehran. It is stated that the building where Haniyeh was staying is located very close to the Sadabad Palace, which is used for official ceremonies in the north of Tehran. It was also stated that this building serves as a service for veterans of the Revolutionary Guard Corps.

According to reports in the Iranian press, serious damage was observed in a part of the building where Haniyeh was staying. A missile hit the room where Haniyeh was staying at the time of the assassination, and this was confirmed by eyewitnesses. It was reported that the room where Haniyeh was staying was largely destroyed and that some of the windows, doors and walls in the building were seriously damaged.

The Assassination in Tehran

Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’ political bureau, lost his life in an assassination attempt in Tehran, where he was attending the inauguration of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. In a statement released by the Revolutionary Guard Corps following the attack, it was stated that “Without a doubt, Iran and the resistance front will give a harsh and painful response to this crime of the Israeli regime.”

3 Days of National Mourning

Following Haniyeh’s death in an airstrike on her residence in Tehran, the Iranian government declared three days of national mourning in the country. This mourning was carried out to emphasize the seriousness of the incident in which Haniyeh lost her life and that it was seen as a national loss.

Khamenei Promises Revenge

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, in a written statement regarding Haniyeh’s death, said, “The murderer and terrorist Zionist regime (Israel) deeply saddened us by martyring our valuable guest in our home. However, this situation has also prepared the ground for a severe “Punishment against it. It is our most important duty to avenge Haniyeh’s blood.”
