In a demonstration against the attacks carried out by Israel, the Irish people gave messages of support and solidarity to the Palestinian people with poems and songs. The demonstrators called for peace and justice and chanted enthusiastic slogans for the freedom of Palestine.

The event also drew attention with signs reading “Israel is a terrorist state” and “No child is accidentally shot twice” as well as proudly waving Palestinian flags. The poem “Grandpa, what did you do?” was also read during the show, which revolves around an emotional dialogue in which a child asks his grandfather what he did in the face of oppression in Palestine.

Karen Dervan, one of the participants in the demonstration, told AA that they will not give up on gathering in front of the Israeli Embassy in Dublin every Wednesday to call for an end to the genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. Dervan stated that many groups in Ireland have been defending the freedom of the Palestinian people for decades and that it is not enough for the Irish government to officially recognize the state of Palestine. He argued that the government should end its trade agreements with Israel.

Dervan said, “We stand with Palestine and will continue to stand with them until this genocide ends,” adding that their solidarity will continue.
