Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council Bans PKK-Related Parties
Recent developments from the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council have received widespread coverage in the local press. The Council has made an important decision, following requests and complaints from the Iraqi National Security Undersecretariat, to ban the activities of certain political formations that have been identified as having links to the terrorist organization PKK.
In this context, it was decided to halt the activities of the so-called parties named “Yezidis Democratic and Freedom Party”, “Democratic Struggle Front Party” and “Tevgera Azadi” due to their ties to the terrorist organization PKK and to seize their assets The statement by the Supreme Judicial Council included information that the ties of these parties to the PKK were also confirmed by the Iraqi Intelligence Service and the Prime Ministry Office.
Following this decision, the Iraqi government issued an official statement on July 23, ordering the terrorist organization PKK to be designated as a “prohibited organization.” This step is considered part of the efforts to combat terrorism in Iraq and aims to strengthen the security situation in the country.
