Iraqi Prime Minister Sudani’s Visit to Egypt

According to a written statement by the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Press Office, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani paid an official visit to Egypt, during which he met with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in the city of Alamein in northwestern Egypt.

In this important meeting held at the Presidential Palace in Allamayn, the importance of developing cooperation between Iraq and Egypt in different areas was emphasized. The statement included the following statements: “During the meeting between Prime Minister Sudani and President Sisi, regional developments and the Zionist aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza were discussed in detail.”

During the meeting, Sudani expressed the significant progress made in the level of cooperation between the two countries, drawing attention to the depth of relations. Expressing Iraq’s desire to cooperate with Egyptian companies, especially in areas such as housing, agriculture and water management, Sudani said that the joint committee’s work in these areas (housing, agriculture and water management), especially in the oil industry, continues and that he is closely following these processes.

Sudani emphasized the strategic location and importance of Iraq, saying, “A stable Iraq is a source of strength for all friends in the region. Iraq has the capacity to be a point of rapprochement between the countries of the region and friendly countries.”

Attacks in Gaza and the International Community

The meeting also brought up Israel’s ongoing attacks on the Gaza Strip and the Palestinians’ right to establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. Sudani said, “The silence of the international community encourages the Zionist entity to carry out all kinds of attacks.” Sudani also praised Egypt’s efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.

On the other hand, Egyptian President Sisi expressed his desire for full cooperation with Iraq in various fields, saying, “A strong Iraq should be the wish of the region and the Arab countries.” Sisi also stated that there is a clear political will for joint cooperation between the two countries.

Following his official visit to Egypt, Iraqi Prime Minister Sudani plans to go to Tunisia for an official visit.
