In a written statement, the Iraqi Islamic Party stated that the increase in terrorist acts carried out by the banned terrorist organization PKK in Iraq is alarming. The party emphasized that the terrorist acts of the PKK pose a great danger to politics and security.
The statement said that Turkey’s operations against the PKK’s presence in Iraqi territory were a natural response to the spread of the terrorist organization. It was noted that the conflicts and instability in the region also affected Iraq and increased its fragility.
The Iraqi Islamic Party’s statement warned that “if the PKK continues its presence in Iraq and continues its terrorist activities against Turkey, political and economic relations with Turkey will be negatively affected.” It also emphasized that the terrorist organization PKK’s attacks against Turkey were condemned and that Iraq should not allow its territory to be used as an area for attacks by other countries.
The statement also stated that the PKK problem should be resolved through joint efforts with Turkey and that Iraq should take more determined steps on this issue.
