Indonesia, Palestinian Foreign Minister Holds Engagement Ceremony

In a special ceremony held at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki presented President Joko Widodo with the Palestinian state medal. This meaningful award was given to Widodo for his contributions to the relations between the two countries and the Palestinian cause.

Maliki said in a statement that the award was a sign of respect for efforts to strengthen relations between Indonesia and Palestine, and stressed his gratitude to Widodo for his support for Palestine’s struggle for freedom.

Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, who was also present at the ceremony, said that the medal symbolizes Widodo’s continued support for Palestine’s just struggle and Indonesia’s active role in securing afire cease against Israel’s attacks on Gaza. Marsudi said, “Indonesia will continue its contacts with UN member states regarding the recognition of the state of Palestine,” emphasizing that its support for Palestine will continue.
