Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş shared the 1st year interim evaluation report of the Disability Rights National Action Plan with the public. He made important statements about the studies and targets that emerged as a result of the evaluation.
Family-Based National Early Intervention System Will Be Established
Minister Göktaş announced that a Family-Based National Early Intervention System will be established in order to follow and support disabled children from birth to the first years of primary school. He stated that a pilot study will be launched for this system in cooperation with UNICEF and relevant public institutions.
“Work Will Be Conducted for Specialized Care and Rehabilitation Centers”
The Ministry will determine the compliance of private disabled care centers with the Care Services Quality Standards and make incentive payments. Aiming to increase service quality in this way, the ministry will carry out studies to determine the quality standards required to open specialized care and rehabilitation centers.
“After the Disaster, Tent and Container Cities Will Be Made Suitable for the Use of Disabled and Elderly Individuals”
The Ministry carries out studies to develop disaster management services that are sensitive to the disabled and the elderly. Work will be initiated to make tent and container cities suitable for the use of disabled and elderly individuals in provinces affected by earthquakes. In this context, plans will be made to ensure that disabled and elderly individuals in need of care have access to rehabilitation services during post-disaster recovery efforts.
