İmamoğlu Accuses Partisanship
CHP’s Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu accused the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum and the AK Party of ‘partisanship.’ İmamoğlu’s baseless statement had a wide repercussion in the public opinion.
Following Minister Kurum, a response came from IMM AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Zeynel Abidin Okul. In a post on the official social media platform X, Okul described İmamoğlu’s inconsistent statements as ‘tragicomic’.
- Okul said, “While it is known to the public which political tendencies you base your criteria on when hiring workers, it is truly tragicomic that you accuse the AK Party, which bases itself on merit and has been governing the state with qualified staff for 22 years.”
Career Advice from School to İmamoğlu
Stressing that important works regarding urban transformation have been carried out in Istanbul under the leadership of Minister Kurum, Okul said, “Have no doubt that we have been serving this city for 30 years with great love and determination by establishing dialogue with all segments of society .”
The school made a suggestion to İmamoğlu, saying, “Our advice to you is to prioritize serving Istanbul and the people of Istanbul in your political career plan.” These statements are of a criticism nature, questioning İmamoğlu’s understanding of service to Istanbul.
These developments seem to have a profound impact on Istanbul’s political atmosphere and the future of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
