Housing Sales Statistics 2024 May
Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced housing sales statistics for May 2024. According to the data, while housing sales across Turkey decreased by 2.4% compared to the previous year, they increased by 46.3% on a monthly basis. 110 thousand 588 houses were sold in May.
Cities with the Most House Sales
- Istanbul: 18,814 residences
- Ankara: 9,861 houses
- Antalya: 6,306 residences
The provinces with the lowest house sales were Bayburt (37 houses), Ardahan (46 houses) and Hakkari (60 houses), respectively. In the January-May period, total housing sales decreased by 3.4% compared to the previous year, reaching 465,761.

Mortgage house sales amounted to 9,909 in May, a decrease of 63.9% compared to the previous year. The share of mortgage sales in total housing sales was 9%. The most changes in ownership in the mortgage sale type record took place in big cities such as Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir.
Other housing sales increased by 17.3% in May, reaching 100,679. The share of other sales in total housing sales was 91%. The provinces with the highest sales were big cities such as Istanbul, Ankara and Antalya.

Housing sales to foreigners decreased by 34.8% in May compared to the previous year, reaching 2,064. The highest number of housing sales took place in touristic regions such as Antalya, Istanbul and Mersin.
