Following the warnings of the 15th Regional Directorate of Meteorology, children are resorting to dangerous methods to cool off due to the temperature, which has been above 40 degrees for about a week.
Children Dive Into Ornamental Pools Even Though It’s Forbidden
The ornamental pools in the historical Anzele Park in the Melikahmet Neighborhood of Diyarbakır’s Sur district attract the attention of children. Ignoring the warning signs, children try to cool off by jumping into the water from a height of 3 meters. Some prefer to swim in the sun after swimming.
Citizens Struggle to Cope with the Heat
While döner operators are increasing the number of shifts due to the high temperatures, the masters are trying to cool down with various methods. While some döner masters use ice blocks tied to their backs, some cool their feet outside. The masters, who consume close to 30 liters of water a day, order ice from outside on a daily basis.
