Heavy rain and storms in Canada yesterday caused adverse effects across the country. According to the country’s weather service, the capital Toronto recorded the highest amount of rain since 1941, with 4 inches of rain in the city. As a result of this record-breaking rainfall, streets and avenues in Toronto were flooded. Approximately 167,000 people in the city experienced power outages and drivers were stranded due to standing water. In addition, a train station was flooded and many homes were flooded due to the rain. Authorities announced that they rescued at least 14 people trapped in their vehicles.
