In the statement made by the Ministry:
It was stated that Dendias’ statements were low-quality, full of lies and slander targeting the Turkish Cypriots and the heroic Turkish army. It was emphasized that the statement in question was strongly condemned.
The statement drew attention to the fact that the Turkish army, acting in accordance with Turkey’s “guarantor” right arising from international agreements, ended the oppression of the Turkish Cypriots by the Greek side in the period 1963-1974 and saved the Turkish Cypriot people from the genocide attempt.
It was also stated that thanks to the courage and presence of the Turkish soldiers, no blood had been shed in Cyprus since 1974, Greece’s oppression of the Greek Cypriot people had ended, and the military regime in Greece had been overthrown and a return to democracy had been achieved.
“The Turkish soldiers will be the guarantor of peace and tranquility in Cyprus tomorrow, as they were yesterday and today,” it said, calling on the Greek Defense Minister to refrain from trying to undermine the common stance of constructively advancing relations between Turkey and Greece .
Finally, it was emphasized that Mr. Dendias’ efforts to make a political career by sowing discord between the Turkish and Greek peoples would be fruitless.
