Yun Chuan and Xin Bao, the first panda couple to enter the United States, set out from China’s Sichuan province and arrived in Los Angeles. Giant pandas, brought to California by private plane, will meet visitors at the San Diego Zoo.

Yun Chuan and Xin Bao, who are traveling as part of the 10-year giant panda conservation cooperation agreement signed between China and the USA, are very young pandas, aged 5 and 4. The panda couple set out from China’s Bifengxia Panda Base and arrived in Los Angeles, where they plan to go to the San Diego Zoo soon.

Yun Chuan and Xin Bao were accompanied by 5 experienced caregivers and veterinarians during their journey. The panda couple will be quarantined for at least 30 days according to standard procedures and will be opened to visitors when they are ready to be visited by the care team.

The 25-year collaboration between the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center and the San Diego Zoo has achieved significant success in giant panda conservation, breeding, disease control and public education.
