Gendarmerie Measures Against Forest Fires in Antalya
The Gendarmerie has started patrolling with its security and commando teams against the forest fires that have increased recently in Antalya. In order to prevent and control the fires, teams affiliated with the Aksu District Gendarmerie Command are actively working in forest areas 24/7.
Despite the difficult terrain conditions, commands continue their inspections in hard-to-reach areas, making a significant contribution to the early detection and prevention of fires. Teams use drones at many points to quickly scan large areas and detect potential fires. In this way, suspicious people and movements are immediately reported to field teams, allowing rapid response to fire threats.
Inspection at Kursunlu Waterfall
Security and commando teams conducted comprehensive inspections in the forest area where Kurşunlu Waterfall, which hosts millions of visitors from all over the world with its natural beauty, is located. Security teams conducted checks on people entering the forest areas with off-road vehicles. Gendarmerie Traffic Teams checked the IDs of drivers they stopped during road checks and warned drivers not to throw cigarette butts on the side of the road and to report suspicious situations to the 112 Emergency Call Center.
Aksu District Gendarmerie Commander First Lieutenant Ayhan Aktürk stated that they were working with a total of 22 teams in the forest areas and made the following statements:
“We are on duty 24 hours a day on all roads that provide access to forests, especially in forested areas. In addition, our civilian teams are also actively taking part in forested areas by providing control. We are also receiving support from drones in these efforts; we are effectively using all the possibilities of technology. We also have camera traps at many points. “We are constantly informing our citizens in areas where there is a high probability of fire.”
