Garbage Problem at Babalı Beach
Babalı Beach, which is located in the Kandıra district on the border of Kocaeli with Sakarya on the Black Sea coast, attracts attention with its magnificent 2-kilometer-long sandy beach. Unfortunately, however, this beautiful beach is almost covered with garbage coming from the sea. While the beach, which is preferred by holidaymakers and is close to the road, is observed to be clean, the 2-kilometer-long part, which is difficult to reach by car, is overflowing with garbage such as plastic bottles, glass waste, plastic packaging materials, broken presses and buckets.
The distance of Babalı Beach from the main road has caused this area to be less preferred by holidaymakers. For this reason, the garbage piles that extend for kilometers give the beach an image of being abandoned to its fate. Especially the wavy sea and the difficulty of transportation result in holidaymakers not visiting this area. This situation causes Babalı Beach to be remembered for its environmental pollution as well as its natural beauty.
It is thought that authorities need to take action to clean up the area and make it a clean beach again. The images taken by drones reveal the poor condition of the beach and emphasize the importance of finding solutions. Here is the drone footage of this area covered in garbage:
