Gallant’s Thank You Message to Pistorius
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced on social media that he had a phone conversation with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius. Gallant thanked Pistorius for “standing by Israel” and shared his view that the international community and the free world must unite against Iran.
Gallant said that during the meeting he gave Pistorius extensive information about “security developments and threats posed by Iran and its proxies to Israel and the wider region.” This statement came at a time of increasing tensions in the region and the importance of security issues was emphasized.
On the other hand, the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’ political bureau, in Tehran, Iran, on July 31, further increased tensions in the region. Both Iran and Hamas claimed that Israel was behind the attack. Iran threatened to retaliate against the Tel Aviv government, indicating that tensions could escalate further.
