Approximately 5 decares of land was damaged in the forest fire that occurred in the Gömü location of the Asarçay neighborhood in Çorum’s Oğuzlar district. The fire broke out for an undetermined reason and spread rapidly, damaging the forest area.
When citizens noticed the smoke, the situation was reported to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Firefighters and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene in a short time. While Oğuzlar Municipality fire brigades performed the first intervention, reinforcement teams from Osmancık Forest Management Directorate were also directed to the region to control the fire. As a result of the coordinated work of the teams, the fire was taken under control before it grew.
While cooling efforts continue after the fire, the cause of the fire is being investigated in detail. Local people and authorities were warned to be careful against forest fires.
