The meeting emphasized the need to take effective steps in the international arena to end the attacks on Gaza and the humanitarian disaster it has brought. The parties discussed that the only way to achieve a just, lasting and comprehensive peace is a two-state solution.

The ministers discussed steps to be taken for international recognition of the state of Palestine and warned about the “danger of the spread of war”. It was emphasized that the United Nations Security Council resolution 1701 must be adhered to in order to protect Lebanon from a new conflict.

The Foreign Ministers of Jordan and Spain participated in the session titled “The Path to Peace: Implementation of the Two-State Solution” at the symposium “Spain in the World: International Order and Geopolitical Changes”. Jordanian Minister Safadi drew attention to the importance of the two-state solution with the Arab Peace Plan presented by the Arab countries in 2002.
