Floods After Heavy Rain in Ünye

Following the heavy rain that started in Ünye in the morning hours, floods occurred in the city center. While floods occurred on the Tabakhane Bridge, in the industrial site and in the workplaces in the city center, lightning struck a tree in the cemetery in Çınarlık Neighborhood. The fallen tree fell on a parked car. Ordu Metropolitan Municipality and Ünye Municipality teams took action following the negative situations.

Ünye Mayor Hüseyin Tavlı’s Statements: Mayor Tavlı, who stated that floods and inundations occurred as a result of the rain that started in the morning hours and intensified, warned citizens not to put bags in drains and to prevent objects that could cause blockages. Stating that no serious negativity had been encountered so far, Mayor Tavlı stated that the teams were on alert in the field and that work was continuing.

Work of the Teams: Ünye Municipality and Ordu Metropolitan Municipality teams continue to work in the field with 15 construction machines and 70 personnel in order to prevent possible floods and inundations in critical areas. Cleaning and evacuation efforts continue rapidly, especially in areas where floods have occurred.

Meteorological Warning:The General Directorate of Meteorology issued a yellow code warning for Ordu and warned citizens to be careful against negativities such as flash floods, inundation, lightning and wind.

Tradesmen, citizens and municipal teams continue their work in the areas where floods have occurred and strive to bring the district back to normal.
