“Flat Earth” Claim May Change Street Name in Adana
A young activist in Adana who claims the world is flat attempted to name the street in Tepebağ Neighborhood in Seyhan district “Flat World”. Former president of the Flat World Association, Doğukan Özkan, applied to the municipality to change the name of 27039 street.
Özkan, who argued that the world is flat with the Flat Earth Association he founded in 2018, continued to maintain his claim in his own circles after the closure of the association. Now, it is waiting for the approval of the municipality to change the name of the street in Tepebağ District to “Flat World”.
Özkan, with the support of the street traders, conveyed his request to the municipality to change the name of the street. Özkan, who has believed for years that the world is flat, had taken steps to change his name by applying to the court in the past.
The street is expected to be named “Flat Earth”
- Doğukan Özkan collected signatures from approximately 25 tradesmen regarding changing the name of the street.
- With the support of tradesmen, the name of the street is planned to be changed to “Flat World”.
Özkan, in his statement on the subject, said, “We believe in the flat world. We thought of naming the street ‘Flat Earth’ in order to make a change for both our street and the neighborhood shopkeepers.” he said he
One of the local shopkeepers, barber Güray Koruloğlu, said, “Doğukan abi is already a sensational man. He defended the flat world and he fell for it. We supported him. We saw no harm in changing the name of the street. We support dog.”
