Fires in Newfoundland and Labrador continue to threaten the Labrador City and Wabush areas, CBC News reported. Premier Andrew Furey has called on residents to remain on alert and evacuate their homes. An estimated 9,000 people have been evacuated from their homes as the fires intensify. Huge clouds of smoke have filled the skies in Labrador City and Wabush, and long lines of vehicles have formed at gas stations.

There are 11 fires burning in Newfoundland and Labrador, and about 750 people were evacuated on June 19. Experts say that climate change has increased the risk of major fires in many parts of the country in recent years due to dry and hot weather. There are 575 active fires fighting across Canada, and more than 400 of them are reportedly out of control. Last year, the country experienced its worst fire season in history, burning millions of hectares of forest.
