Fire Extinguishing Efforts Continue
The fire, which broke out in the Argavlı Neighborhood of Söke, spread rapidly due to the wind and spread over a wide area. In order to control the flames, many firefighting teams were dispatched to the region from the Muğla Forestry Regional Directorate, Aydın Metropolitan Municipality and surrounding provinces. In addition to the firefighting teams, TOMA, AFAD, Gendarmerie, UMKE and Red Crescent teams also took part in the crisis center established to combat the fire.
While water trucks, construction equipment and tankers were used to fight the fire from the ground, intensive efforts were also made from the air to bring the flames under control. A total of nine aircraft and nine helicopters, two of which had night vision, participated in the firefighting efforts.
Night Air Intervention
As the weather darkened, two night vision firefighting helicopters were sent to the area to fight the flames. These helicopters continued to intervene from the air to extinguish the fire until the first light of the morning. Ground teams also supported this fight throughout the night, trying to prevent the fire from growing.
In the early hours of the morning, 7 more helicopters and 5 more planes joined the firefighting efforts. The dedicated efforts of the teams were an important step in bringing the fire under control.
