A fire broke out in the reed area within the Madra Stream, which determines the provincial border between Balıkesir and İzmir, in the Altınova Neighborhood of the Ayvalık district of Balıkesir. The fire, which started on the side of the E-87 highway connecting Çanakkale and İzmir, spread rapidly due to the influence of strong winds.

While fire crews struggled to control the fire, animal owners in the area made efforts to save their animals from the flames. According to initial reports, the fire affected an area of ​​approximately 10 hectares.

Ayvalık Fire Brigade Group Command affiliated to Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Dikili Fire Brigade Group Command, Edremit Forestry Regional Directorate teams, Ayvalık Municipality and Dikili Municipality teams, water tankers and construction equipment belonging to private companies intervened in the fire.

After the fire was brought under control, efforts were made to prevent possible damage to the cultivated lands and olive groves in the region. Work was also initiated to revive the burned reed areas.
