Field Survey of Tersane Istanbul Project
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu carried out a field inspection in the Shipyard Istanbul Project. In the press statement he made here, he emphasized that with this project, they will bring back the 600-year-old historical area inherited from the Ottoman Empire to the city as a modern living space.
Uraloğlu stated that they developed the Shipyard Istanbul Project in order to preserve the character of the historical shipyard and transfer this area to future generations. “We aim to bring our citizens together with the Golden Horn by preserving the historical texture in this area, which has been closed to civilians for approximately 150 years. Within the scope of the project, walking and cycling tracks on the coastline, cafes and recreation areas, social activity areas, a mosque with a capacity of 1000 people, a library, and experience-oriented activities for young people and students “We are creating areas, accommodation areas that support the tourism of the historical peninsula, 2 marinas with 70 yachts each, and water sports areas.”he said
Uraloğlu stated that upon completion of the project, they will restore 26 registered historical buildings with a total area of 83 thousand 300 square meters and bring them into use. “We will have brought the 1.8-kilometer coastline to our people after 1.5 centuries.”he said
Uraloğlu stated that they both protected the industrial heritage of this unique region and made a significant contribution to the brand value of Istanbul. “Tersane Istanbul will bring the historical Ottoman shipyards back to the heart of Istanbul and become a vibrant part of city life again with an exemplary conservation approach that reveals the rich past of the secluded shipyard area.”made his assessment.
Economic Contributions and Investments
Pointing out that Shipyard Istanbul was built in 4 phases, Minister Uraloğlu said, “Our progress level throughout the project is 69 percent. We made the partial acceptance of the 25th and 26th blocks, which are within the scope of the first phase to be opened to the public, on June 11.” he said He stated that they aim to complete the first phase before the end of this year.
Uraloğlu, “After the restoration of the building, which was used as a torpedo factory during the Ottoman period, is completed, we will start hosting national and international organizations. In addition, we are making a huge investment of approximately 889 million dollars without using public resources “During the 45-year operation period, we will bring a total of 1 billion 346 million dollars of rental income to our treasury.”he said
Evaluating the Tersane Istanbul Project as a very important achievement for both Istanbul and Turkey, Uraloğlu stated that he believes that the project will become a popular culture-art events center for Istanbulites in all seasons with its historical landmarks. “The architecture, which will be in harmony with the historical texture of the region, will become a point of attraction for both Istanbulites and local and foreign tourists. This project will create employment for thousands of people and host millions of visitors. The developed transportation network of Istanbul is also extremely important for the development of tourism activities “Transportation makes travel possible, and the development of transport systems stimulates tourism and commerce.”
Transportation Investments of Istanbul
Reminding that they have invested approximately 1 trillion 184 billion 556 million liras for the transportation and communication infrastructure of Istanbul in the last 22 years, Uraloğlu said, “Marmaray, Eurasia Tunnel, Istanbul Airport, Çamlıca Tower, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, Northern Marmara and Istanbul-Izmir highways and “By implementing giant investments such as the Istanbul-Ankara High Speed Train Line, we have moved Istanbul to a completely different point with a modern and effective transportation infrastructure,” he said.

Minister Uraloğlu pointed out that approximately 1 billion 165 million passengers have been carried by Marmaray since the day it was opened, and said, “We have implemented very important projects to develop the urban rail public transportation infrastructure so that Istanbulites and visitors coming to Istanbul have “faster and easier transportation in the city.” he said
Reminding that, as the Ministry, they have built a 161.7 kilometer line, including the 14 kilometer long Arnavutköy-Istanbul Airport section of the Halkalı-Istanbul Airport Metro, which they last put into service in Istanbul, Uraloğlu said, “Currently, in the Halkalı-Arnavutköy Section of the Halkalı-Istanbul Airport Metro and “We are rapidly continuing the construction work on the Altunizade-Çamlıca Mosque-Bosna Boulevard Metro.”
Uraloğlu pointed out that the construction works of the Halkalı-Kapıkule High Speed Train Project are continuing and said, “With the railway connection we will realize on the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, we will have a second railway line alternative to Marmaray on the Bosphorus and the position of Istanbul in international freight transportation.” “It will get stronger.” he said.
