Fenerbahçe faced off against Swiss team Lugano in the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round. The yellow-navy team defeated Lugano 2-1 in the return match played at home and advanced to the next round.
Fenerbahçe’s goals were scored by Edin Dzeko in the 59th minute and Szymanski in the 90+3rd minute, while Lugano’s goal came from Mahmoud in the 7th minute.
Brazilian midfielder Fred, who was injured in the 31st minute of the match, was replaced by İsmail Yüksek. Dzeko, one of Fenerbahçe’s influential players, reached four goals in his two official matches with the goals he scored in this match.
Fenerbahçe has been paired with French team Lille in the 3rd qualifying round. The first match will be played away on Tuesday, August 6, while the return match will take place in Kadıköy on Tuesday, August 13.
