Eurozone and EU Inflation Data Published by Eurostat

Eurostat has announced the final inflation figures for the Eurozone and the European Union (EU) for June. According to the data, the annual inflation rate in the Eurozone, which was 2.6 percent in May, fell to 2.5 percent in June. On a monthly basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.2 percent in June.

Market expectations were that annual inflation in the Eurozone would be 2.5 percent and monthly inflation would be 0.2 percent in June. The data announced by Eurostat was in line with market expectations.

Core inflation in the Eurozone was measured at 2.9 percent annually and 0.4 percent monthly in June. The annual inflation rate in the EU as a whole, which was 2.7 percent in May, fell to 2.6 percent in June. The CPI in the EU increased by 0.2 percent on a monthly basis.

Looking at the main components of inflation in the Eurozone, annual inflation in services was the highest at 1.84 percent. Services were followed by food, alcohol and tobacco products at 0.48 percent, non-energy industrial products at 0.17 percent and energy products at 0.02 percent.
