Following a meeting held in Cairo, Egypt, a group of 130 members of the Libyan Supreme Council of State and the House of Representatives stressed the importance of national reconciliation and social peace in order to ensure stability in Libya and build a modern, civil state.
The meeting stated that the electoral laws were determined by the “6+6” Committee and approved by the House of Representatives must be adhered to. It was stated that a common roadmap must be presented by the members of the State Supreme Council and the House of Representatives to reach the elections. It was also called for the House of Representatives to begin accepting candidate applications in order to form a new unity government that will manage the election process.
Following the meetings held in Libya, a group of 120 members of the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of State, at a meeting held in Tunisia, expressed their determination to hold parliamentary and presidential elections on June 6, 2023.
