An unnamed Egyptian official, speaking to Cairo’s Al-Ikhbariyah TV channel, said the security team continues its intensive activities to bring the views of all parties closer together. He said the Egyptian security team will go to Doha tomorrow to bring the views of Hamas and Israel closer together so that a ceasefire agreement can be reached in the Gaza Strip as soon as possible.
The official, who stated that agreements had been reached on many points and that negotiations would continue in Doha on Wednesday and in Cairo on July 11, stressed Egypt’s resolve stance on the necessity of an immediate ceasefire and facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid.
Negotiations Continue Under Egyptian Mediatorship
Ahead of the new round of negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza, it was reported that a delegation led by CIA Director William Burns had arrived in Egypt. It is expected that indirect negotiations will be held again in the coming days between Tel Aviv and Hamas, mediated by Egypt and Qatar, to reach an agreement on the prisoner exchange and to establish a ceasefire.
The Israeli negotiating team, led by Ronen Bar, Director of the Israeli domestic intelligence agency Shin-Bet (Shabak), had gone to Egypt the day before to participate in talks on the prisoner swap and the management of the Rafah Border Crossing. Hamas, on the other hand, stated that they were displaying a positive and flexible stance in order to reach an agreement to stop the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip, while Netanyahu was increasing the obstacles to the negotiations.
