Egypt-Saudi Arabia Joint Military Committee Meeting
On August 12-14, in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, the Saudi Chief of Staff, General Fayyaz bin Hamid al-Ruwayli, and the Egyptian Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Ahmed Fethi Ibrahim Khalifa, chaired the meeting. Egypt-Saudi Arabia Joint Military Committee meetingwas carried out.
The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Defense, in a statement made on the X social media platform, stated that in this 10th meeting, strategic relations between the two countries, as well as ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the defense and military fields were discussed.
According to a written statement by Egyptian Army Spokesman Gharib Abdel Hafiz, the Chief of the Egyptian General Staff Khalifa met with the Chief of the Saudi General Staff Ruweili at the Ministry of Defense in Cairo. During this meeting, issues of mutual importance, especially military cooperation relations in many areas between the armed forces of both countries, were discussed in detail.
The closing session of the meeting focused on military cooperation activities carried out by the Egypt-Saudi Arabia Joint Military Committee and the sharing of scientific and educational experiences in various military fields.
Chief of the Egyptian General Staff Khalifa stated that “Egypt is proud of the solid relations it has established with Saudi Arabia” and noted that “a consensus has been reached on joint plans that will benefit the armed forces of both countries”. This was considered an indication that the two countries’ cooperation in the field of defense will deeply further.
Saudi Chief of Staff Ruweili praised Egypt’s effective role in the regional and international arena to ensure security and stability in the Middle East, and expressed his desire for greater military cooperation between the two countries. In this context, the determination of both countries to act together in the field of defense is expected to make a positive contribution to the security dynamics in the region.
