In the midst of his presidential campaign, Donald Trump has fervently reiterated his strong stance against migrants entering the United States through the southern border. He has gone as far as labeling them as criminals who are purportedly “poisoning the blood of our country.” At the Republican National Convention, the rhetoric was dominated by discussions of a supposed surge in “migrant crime,” despite the lack of statistical evidence supporting such claims.
Interestingly, there has been a notable discrepancy between the public perception fueled by such narratives and the actual numbers. Contrary to the prevailing belief, there has not been a documented increase in migrant-related criminal activities. Nevertheless, the narrative persists, influencing a growing segment of the population.
