European Union Sends Letter to Elon Musk About Censorship
The European Union has increased its criticism of Elon Musk and sent a letter to Trump about censoring him during an interview. EU Commissioner Thierry Breton emphasized in this letter that Musk and Trump should be more careful, drawing attention to the rapidly spreading “far-right” issue in Europe. Breton warned that Musk could face legal consequences if he does not prevent the spread of what they describe as “disinformation.”
Tensions Between EU and Musk
Elon Musk claimed last month that the European Commission offered a “secret censorship agreement” to the X platform. Musk said the EU offered an illegal “secret agreement” to not be penalized in exchange for quietly censoring speech, and X rejected the offer. Following these developments, the EU has toughened its criticism of Musk. Breton said, “There has never been and will never be any secret agreement with anyone. To be clear, your team has asked the Commission to explain the reconciliation process and to clarify our concerns.”
