Diyarbakır Bar Association took steps against hateful posts on social media about the fire that occurred between the districts of Diyarbakır and Mardin. Diyarbakır Bar Association took action upon the insults and hateful messages that appeared on social media after 12 people lost their lives in the fire between Çınar and Mazıdağı districts.
In the statement made by the Bar Association, it was stated that posts that fuel discrimination against Kurdish identity and encourage people to hatred and hostility after the fires constitute a crime. In this context, it was stated that a criminal complaint was filed within the scope of “publicly hurting or humiliating the public to hatred and hostility”.
Diyarbakır Bar Association emphasized that those who shared the criminal posts were reported to the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and the legal process was initiated.
