Statement from the Minister of Labor and Social Security on the Premium Debts of Municipalities
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan announced that the total premium debt of municipalities to the Social Security Institution has reached 96 billion TL. Minister Işıkhan stated that 67.7 percent of this debt belongs to CHP municipalities. He also noted that all five municipalities with the highest premium debt to the Social Security Institution are CHP municipalities.

Responding to President Erdoğan’s instruction that municipalities should pay their SGK debts, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel claimed that the five most indebted municipalities were those that transferred from the AK Party to the CHP.
Response from AK Party Member Dağ to Özel
AKP Deputy Chairman Hamza Dağ responded to Özgür Özel’s claims by stating that the five municipalities most indebted were not those governed by the AKP but by the CHP. Dağ stated that this situation was not only valid for CHP municipalities, but for all municipalities.
Going further, Dağ reminded Özel of the “free tractor” promise he made farmers to farmers and called on mayors to instruct them to pay the debts.
