Yüksel stated that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had decided that Turkey would intervene in the ongoing genocide case at the ICJ. Yüksel stated that the necessary work had been initiated upon this decision and that the Turkish Embassy in The Hague would apply to the ICJ on May 31.

The TBMM Justice Commission President Yüksel stated that technical and legal work regarding Turkey’s application to intervene in the case was ongoing, and said, “Our application process continues within the framework of our planning and the program we have determined. Our work regarding our application to “Intervention in the ‘genocide’ case filed by South Africa against Israel in the ICJ has come to an end. We will complete our legal text and submit our application to the ICJ in a short time.”

Emphasizing that President Erdoğan does not hesitate to stand by the victims and the oppressed, Yüksel stated that Erdoğan voices the phrase “The world is bigger than 5” on every platform. Yüksel also said, “We will continue to stand by the just cause of Palestine, just as we did yesterday. Our concern is Palestine, our aim is to ensure a ceasefire and ensure that the Palestinian people regain their rights, which have been postponed until “now and usurped illegally, in violation of all humanitarian law.”

“We will continue to do everything necessary and follow every step and process until an independent and sovereign State of Palestine is established. No one should have any doubt about this,” said Yüksel, adding that Turkey stands by Palestine and will continue to take the necessary steps.
