Cryptology Questions from the National Intelligence Organization

The National Intelligence Organization (MIT) shared the answers to sample questions on cryptology on its official website. These questions were prepared using the “Caesar” and “Route” systems, which are classic encryption methods. While the answers to a total of five questions are included, the methods for answering these questions are also explained.

A noteworthy message in the answer key is, “Anytime, anywhere for the homeland”This message is hidden in one of the questions. In addition, in a second question, the message hidden in the ciphertext “MIT is everywhere, at all times, for the homeland”It is expressed as follows.

Among these questions, there is also the encrypted version of the words of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey. These important words of Atatürk were deciphered using the Vigenere encryption method and are expressed as follows:

“Little ladies, little gentlemen. You are all a rose, a star and a light of fortune of the future. You are the ones who will truly shed light on the country. Think about how important and valuable you are and work accordingly. We expect a lot from you.”

Cryptology is a branch of science that uses special mathematical methods to secure communications. Developments in this field are of critical importance in terms of cybersecurity today. Activities such as these by MIT increase the public’s interest in cryptology and strengthen the knowledge in this field.
