Ted Chaiban, UNICEF’s regional director for the Middle East and North Africa, said that if the conflict continues, Palestinian children’s right to education will be seriously jeopardized. Chaiban said that at least 600,000 children in Gaza have not been able to go to school since October, and that this situation has a negative impact on their future.
Chaiban said that children’s long-term absence from school makes it difficult for them to return and makes them vulnerable to risks such as child labor and early marriage, and that urgent education and psychosocial support must be provided.
