President Biden’s Candidacy Challenges
As President Biden faces internal challenges to his candidacy, he is disregarding critics such as editorial boards, millionaires, and the Democratic elite who he believes have underestimated him. Notably absent from his dismissal are the concerns voiced by voters themselves.
Since his previous presidential campaign five years ago, Democratic voters have expressed worries about Mr. Biden’s age, verbal gaffes, outdated references, and hesitant speaking style. These concerns have intensified during his presidency, with a majority of Democratic voters desiring a new leader two years ago. Despite this, many Democratic officials have supported his re-election despite their private doubts.
Following his poor debate performance last month, some lawmakers are now openly distancing themselves from the president. However, even if Mr. Biden, aged 81, manages to retain high-level support, interviews conducted nationwide reveal that the concerns among the voters crucial for his re-election are serious, significant, and on the rise.
Senator Peter Welch of Vermont recently became the first Democratic senator to publicly call for Mr. Biden to step aside.

Judy Dixon, Township Supervisor of Doylestown, Pa. | “You want to be on Team Joe, but you also see what other people saw at the debate. I was comfortable with Mr. Biden before the debate, and will support him if he is the nominee, but I am currently part of an effort petitioning for a new Democratic candidate.” |
