Visiting the tourism center Uzungöl in Çaykara district, Semanur Şahin decided to try the ‘bungy catapult’, also known as the ‘human slingshot’, to have an adrenaline-filled experience with her friends. However, as a result of the accident, one of the ropes broke and Semanur Şahin was slightly injured and at the moment she was rescued she was captured on a mobile phone camera.

After being thrown from a height of several meters, the falcon screamed and fell rapidly when the rope broke, but was saved without injury thanks to the quick intervention of the officers around him.

The events following the accident came to the fore with a video shared by Semanur Şahin on her social media account. Şahin described those moments in her post with the words “This fear is not something to be experienced” and emphasized that people should not try similar dangers.

Çaykara Municipality Takes Action

Following the incident, Çaykara Municipality inspected the human sling and determined that it was in violation of the regulations regarding Business Opening and Operation Licenses numbered 9207, and decided to immediately close it down.

Mayor Hanefi Tok, in his statement on the subject, stated that the health condition of the citizens is good and emphasized that security measures should be kept at the highest level. Drawing attention to the tourism potential, Tok stated that the safety and health of the tourists coming to the district are at the forefront.

Emphasizing that as Çaykara Municipality, they are contributing to tourism and doing their best to ensure that tourists have a pleasant and safe time, Tok stated that continuous inspections will continue to prevent similar dangerous situations from occurring.
