CHP’s former Washington Ambassador Namık Tan’s characterization of the Blue Homeland doctrine as a “fairy tale” has caused controversy. CHP Spokesperson Deniz Yücel stated that Tan’s words were “distorted” and criticized those who brought the issue to the agenda. Resigned Rear Admiral Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cihat Yaycı made harsh statements on the issue.
“As if Armenia were speaking in the Greek parliament” Yaycı emphasized that he was targeted by the CHP because he criticized Tan, and said, “These guys are literally attacking Turkey. It’s as if they are speaking in the parliaments of Armenia and Greece. I would call him ignorant, but if he says these things knowingly, he is a traitor.”
“If he went to the Greek parliament, he would be applauded, he should resign from his position” Yaycı stated that Tan should resign from his position as an MP, and said, “If he goes today, he will be applauded standing in the Greek parliament. These are the rhetoric of imperialist powers.”
“So some people are saying, ‘Go against the Blue Homeland, criticize it'” Yaycı said, “I have no interest in politics. I care about the homeland and the nation. Tan says; ‘The government of the Republic of Turkey did not stop with cross-border operations’… Is there any nitpicking here? No . He makes fun of us by saying, ‘He attempted overseas adventures. From the Blue Homeland tale…’ The man is literally attacking Turkey.”
