Bisphenol A (BPA) is made from polycarbonate, which is the basic material of plastic products. It is encountered in many areas of daily life. It can be used in the inner coating of demijohns, baby bottles, measuring spoons of medicine syrups, the inner part of sports water bottles and the inner coating of canned cans.
BPA and Health
BPA is a substance that mimics the hormone estrogen and is similar to estrogen. It can increase estrogen levels in cases of continuous exposure. This can increase the risk of breast cancer, cause hormonal imbalance, obesity and cardiovascular disease. It can affect sexual development in children and cause fetal problems during pregnancy.
Products Containing BPA
Products containing BPA are usually marked with the numbers 3, 6 and 7. These numbers indicate that the content may be a health problem. BPA is banned in baby bottle production and PET bottles are numbered. The healthy numbers are usually 1, 2, 4 and 5.
Pet Bottle and Health
Water in PET bottles is generally not a problem as long as it is stored under appropriate conditions. However, there is a risk that some of the substances used in the production of PET bottles may leach into the water. Therefore, it is important not to leave PET bottles in hot environments for long periods of time.
Things to Consider About Pet Bottles
Leaving water in PET bottles unattended and carelessly can pose a risk. Leaving PET bottles in a vehicle, especially at high temperatures, can cause toxic substances to pass into the water. For this reason, it may be healthier to prefer glass bottles and stainless steel containers.
