Accident Leaves Family in Batman in Mourning
The accident occurred at night on the Batman-Beşiri highway Organized Industrial Zone. The light commercial vehicle with the license plate 34 KIK 618, driven by MAA, hit 6 people from the same family who were leaving the wedding hall and trying to cross the road. The family members were thrown meters away by the force of the accident.
Health, UMKE, fire department, police and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the area upon notification. In the investigation, it was determined that Süleyman Oğuz, his son Sefa Oğuz, İlyas Oğuz and his son Demhir Oğuz lost their lives. Süleyman and İlyas Oğuz’s father BO and mother MO, who were injured in the accident, were taken to the hospital and treated.
Statement from the Governor’s Office
The governor’s office made a statement regarding the accident, stating that the driver MAA had been penalized many times before. The statement said, “The driver MAA, who was involved in the traffic accident, was taken into custody, and as a result of the investigation conducted on him, it was determined that he was penalized for various violations such as using a vehicle without a license plate, using a vehicle with lights (flashing), exceeding the speed limit and using a vehicle without compulsive traffic insurance on different dates.”
In the statement, which stated that the judicial investigation into the accident was continuing, it was said, “We wish God’s mercy upon our citizens who lost their lives in the accident and patience and condolences to their relatives.”
Condolence Message from the Education Community
The Provincial Directorate of National Education also issued a condolence message following the accident. The message stated, “In the tragic traffic accident that occurred on the Batman-Siirt ring road, İlyas Oğuz, who was working as a Social Studies Teacher at the Merkez Yavuz Selim Middle School in our province, his baby and two family members passed away .”
The statement said, “We wish God’s mercy to our late teacher İlyas Oğuz, his children and family members; we offer our condolences and patience to his grieving family, relatives and our education community.”
