(BALIKESİR) – Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Agricultural Irrigation Project
Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Akın kept his promise to Pamukçu and resolved the grievance regarding agricultural irrigation. With the decision not to open İkizcetepeler Dam in the 2024 irrigation season, Pamukçu Plain was left without water. As an alternative solution to this situation, a pipeline was laid to deliver the washing water from the treatment plants to the irrigation channels.
The project, carried out by Balıkesir General Directorate of Water and Sewage Works (BASKİ) under the leadership of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Akın, was quickly implemented to meet the irrigation needs of Pamukçu Plain. As Mayor Ahmet Akın promised, as a result of the work completed until the day after Eid al-Adha, the people of Pamukçu were provided with irrigation water.
Thanks to the alternative water source created in Pamukçu Plain, farmers can continue their agricultural activities. As a result of the work carried out by BASKİ teams, a line that will provide 100 liters of water per second was laid and made available to farmers.
Thanks to the agricultural irrigation project of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, the water problem in Pamukçu Plain was resolved quickly and effectively, and farmers were made happy.
