Incident at the Israeli Embassy
The incident of an arrow attack on a police officer who was on duty to protect the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade was recorded as a sad incident that took place in front of the embassy. The police officer, who was the guard of the Israeli Embassy in Serbia, was injured in the neck after being hit by an arrow attack from the attacker. However, the police officer neutralized the attacker by shooting him.
According to the statement made by Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic, the wounded police officer was taken to hospital and is conscious and will undergo an operation to remove the arrow from his neck. It was stated that a detailed investigation into the attack was launched and that the police acted within the scope of self-defense. It was shared that the embassy was closed today following the incident and that there were no employees inside.
Statement from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs evaluated the incident as a “terrorist attack attempt”. The statement said, “Today, an attempted terrorist attack was carried out at the Israeli embassy in Belgrade. A local police officer was injured. All aspects of the incident are being investigated.”
