Protests continue every Saturday against the Netanyahu government, calling for a deal to return Israeli prisoners from the Gaza Strip. Thousands of people are criticizing the indifference of the political will to return the prisoners from Gaza and the conduct of the war, and are demanding the resignation of the “most right-wing government” in the country’s history and early elections.

  • Protests demand the resignation of the government and the return of the prisoners are being held in Tel Aviv, Haifa and West Jerusalem, as well as in the northern city of Caesarea, where Netanyahu is based, and in various parts of the country.
  • The center of the protests was Kaplan Avenue in the capital Tel Aviv, where thousands of Israelis gathered in the evening hours, blocked off by police with iron barriers. The prosecutors, holding Israeli flags, carried banners against Prime Minister Netanyahu and his government representatives.
  • Relatives of Israeli prisoners in the Gaza Strip also criticized Netanyahu in front of the Ministry of Defense. Demonstrators demanding a prisoner swap carried signs reading “All home now.”
  • Israeli media reported that despite the security establishment’s view that a deal should be made, Netanyahu was not willing to make the deal under pressure from his far-right coalition partners in his government.
