Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) hosted the “What is Addiction and What is Not” panel as part of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which was organized to raise awareness about addiction. In the panel, individuals with various addictions and those in the treatment process shared their experiences, and important topics were discussed under the moderation of Prof. Dr. Zehra Arikan.
In his speech at the panel, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş emphasized that addiction is a serious problem facing society and stated that this problem should be combated effectively. Mayor Yavaş said, “In the fight against addiction, it is of great importance to include all segments of society in this process.” he said he
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, which has undertaken important projects in the field of combating addiction, continues to raise awareness about addiction and support prevention efforts. ABB provides psychological support, guidance and information services to individuals and families through addiction counseling centers. In addition, it is aimed to encourage the society to a healthy lifestyle by organizing tobacco cessation sessions within the scope of combating smoking addiction.
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality aims to ensure the active participation of the society by working in cooperation with civil society organizations, universities and other stakeholders in the fight against addiction. Mayor Yavaş stated, “The support and cooperation of the society is of great importance in order to be successful in the fight against addiction. Therefore, we will continue our work to raise awareness and inform families on every platform.”
