Ankara – Nearly 500 sheep lost their lives and 214 sheep were seriously injured in the fire that broke out between Çınar districts of Diyarbakır and Mazıdağı districts of Mardin. Animal rescue efforts in the fire area continue under the coordination of the Turkish Veterinary Association, Diyarbakır Chamber of Veterinarians and Mardin Chamber of Physicians.

  • It should be kept away from light and sound stress and delivered to the veterinarian as quickly as possible.
  • It should be wrapped with clothing/covering to protect against the risk of smoke and fire and carried to a safe area.

Muhammed Ali Süleymanoğlu, President of Diyarbakır Region Chamber of Veterinarians, shared the following information about the work carried out in the fire area: “We intervened in the injured animals with 50 veterinarians who voluntarily participated in the fire. In the fire, in which a “Total of 504 animals lost their lives, 214 animals were found to be seriously injured. They were in serious condition.” “The animals will be sent to slaughter, while the treatment of the others will continue. We continue our work as a team to treat the injured animals in the best possible way.”
