Nearly two weeks have passed since the assassination attempt on former President Donald J. Trump, yet there is still no official report regarding the wound on his right ear. This lack of clarity has led to speculation online about the cause of the wound – whether it was from a bullet, shrapnel, or something else.

A detailed analysis conducted by The New York Times, considering bullet trajectories, footage, photos, and audio, strongly suggests that Mr. Trump was grazed by the first of the eight bullets fired by the gunman, Thomas Crooks. Subsequent bullets wounded two rally-goers and tragically claimed the life of one individual.

Adding to the confusion is the fact that Mr. Trump himself stated he was hit by a bullet, but no official medical reports have been released by his campaign. The campaign did, however, share a memo from Mr. Trump’s former White House physician, Ronny L. Jackson, now a Texas congressman and a vocal supporter of the former president, confirming that Mr. Trump was struck by a bullet on his right ear.

The Secret Service, responsible for event security, has refrained from providing any comments on the matter. The F.B.I. is currently examining numerous metal fragments discovered near the stage to determine if a bullet, or pieces of it, grazed Mr. Trump’s head, causing the bloody ear injury.
