In the incident that took place today at Dikilitaş beach in Istanbul’s Şile district, a father made a great sacrifice to save his child from drowning. The family, who had a pleasant day at the beach, fell into great panic when their child was in danger of drowning in the sea.
Hearing his child’s desperate calls for help, the father jumped into the sea without hesitation. However, while trying to save his son, he unexpectedly got caught in the current and ended his own life.
Other citizens who were on the beach at the time of the incident immediately noticed the situation and informed the lifeguard teams. Lifeguards took action quickly and fought to save the father who was caught in the current.
When the father was brought ashore after long efforts, his heart had stopped. The father, who was brought back to life as a result of heart massage and intervention by the lifesaving teams, was urgently taken to the hospital.
In the statements made after the incident, it was stated that the father is currently unconscious but his life is not in danger. This incident set an example of heroism and sacrifice for all beach visitors and once again emphasized the importance of lifeguard teams.
