Agricultural Island Purchased in Kılıçkaya Dam in Suşehri District of Sivas

Sivas'ın Suşehri ilçesindeki Kılıçkaya Barajı'nda Tarımsal Amaçlı Ada Satın Alındı

The thousand-acre island located in the Kılıçkaya Dam in the Suşehri district of Sivas was put up for sale approximately 4 years ago. The island, which had been waiting to be sold for a long time, was noticed by Ferzan Durmaz, a young farmer living in Şanlıurfa.

Ferzan Durmaz, a producer who carries out agricultural activities in various districts, decided to buy the island he saw on television news. Contacting the owner of the island, Durmaz purchased the 684-acre deeded area on the island and became the owner of the island in Sivas, which has no sea shore.

While the rich islands generally buy holiday resorts to establish, Ferzan Durmaz started agricultural production by planting 10 thousand apricot saplings on the island. Durmaz, who also plants sunflowers, aims to carry out agricultural and animal production on the island with the support of the residents of the surrounding villages.

Ferzan Durmaz: “Having an Island in Sivas, Where There Is No Sea, Made Us Happy”

Ferzan Durmaz:

Ferzan Durmaz, who stated that the island was purchased for agricultural purposes, said, “We saw it on TV. A year and a half ago, there was a sale news. It is called agricultural land. We evaluated it, planted sunflower and apricot trees. We are trying to evaluate it in that way as much as we can. We bought it for agricultural purposes. We evaluated it in that way. Farming is also decreasing, we said let’s bring it to agriculture. We thought this way. Frankly, being an island owner in Sivas, which has no sea, made us happy. We will continue agricultural activities.”

Hüseyin Keleş: “The Largest Island of Anatolia”

Stating that the island consists of approximately one thousand acres, Hüseyin Keleş said, “There are currently seven hundred acres of arable land. We planted sunflower seeds and apricot trees. The saplings are as you can see. They bought this place with my brother Ferzan from Urfa. We are helping them as much as we can. We will have our first harvest this year. This is the largest island in Anatolia.”
