Details of the incident
The incident occurred at around 10.20 in Burdur’s central Cumhuriyet Square. Traffic teams found an unattended bag while conducting an operation in the square. Evaluating the situation, teams called police and bomb disposal experts to the scene. While security measures were being taken, the City Security Management System cameras were also examined and the license plate of the suspicious vehicle was determined.
Brought to the scene, the vehicle owner, SK, explained that the bag actually belonged to his son MEK and that his son had forgotten the bag while riding his bike to school. When it was seen that there were textbooks in the bag, the blasting operation was cancelled. When it was revealed that the incident was misunderstood, security measures were lifted.
